All Verticals Concept - part 2

This is the next concept of my "All Verticals" series. Last time, I went over what I know as the "Arizona" concept. This post will delve into a similar concept that attacks the defense a little differently: the "Alabama" concept.

All Vert Concept 2: "Alabama"

"Alabama" is almost exclusively run out of a 3x1 receiver set. On the 3 receiver side, the concept is the exact same as "Arizona": the outside receiver runs a "snag", the slot receiver runs a "bender", and the inside receiver/tight end runs a "hunt" route attacking the inside shoulder of the nearest safety. On the single receiver side, the receiver runs a dig route instead of a "snag", making a rounded cut at 12 yards before coming flat across the field at 15 yards. This route allows for the single receiver to get into the open area near the middle of the field when the defense shifts over to take away the 3 receiver side. Another difference is that when the defense gives a 2 high safety look, the QB can "alert" the outside receiver to run a "dart" route instead of the snag.

"Alabama" concept

"Alabama", while also trying to attack the intermediate and deep parts of the field like "Arizona", does so where they can hit the "soft spot" in the back side of the defense with the dig route by the single receiver.
